What did we do?
Today in our first block of Humanities, we were expected to work on our pros and cons for our novels. We weren't asked to work on our paragraph booklets.

Why (Learning Intension) did we do it?
We worked on our pros and cons because we could understand the good things (advantages) and bad things (disadvantages) about our own novels. 

Reflections and Connections
Doing the pros and cons can help us in the future because it helps us have a better understanding of the novel, and it helps make decisions about our commercials.

Homework Reminders
Try to finish or complete the paragraph booklets by tomorrow, and also your pros and cons if you haven't finished.

What did we do?

            Today for the second block of humanities we got into our lit circle groups to discuss about our commercial. We talked about pro and cons about our book.

Why did we do it? (learning intentions)

            We did it so we could talk in our groups about what was good about the book and what was bad about the book. (pro-cons list).

Reflections and connections-

            It’s important because we know what to say in our commercial cause we’re trying to sell the book. We have to know what’s good to say in our commercial, what people will like about the book. Word maybe we’ve learned from this class.

Homework reminders-

            Innovation fair, learning blogs and ideas for the commercial if you haven’t finished yet.

Homework tips-

            You can ask a friend, watch videos or e-mail our teacher.

            

In CLass today

Today in class we had a TOC, because Ms.Lees was sick today. With the TOC we did our booklets so basically we did individual work during class. THE BOOKLETS ARE DUE ON FRIDAY SO THAT WE DONT HAVE HOMEWORK OVER THE WEEKEND!!!!. The reason we're doing the Booklets are to help with lur "writing skills".

Today we did dialectical journals everything went really good everyone in our group all had the same

tally marks we all discussed more then 5 ideas and questions. Today was our last day for dialectical journals on the book we were reading so we all had to do our best which most of us did and also the goals that we set for last week dialectical journal was accomplished

Hi, my name is Alice and i am in Grade 8.
This week our homework was to do a 3 word challenge and post on the blog. Basically what the 3 word challenge is, is that we choose 3 words that we want to make as "Goals" for next year (2015)

The 3 Words that i chose...
1. Flexibility
I chose the word Flexibility, because i really had a goal to get my splits going for a while and i wanted to be really flexible this year to help me with dance.

2.Concentration/Wisely
I chose this word, because i sometimes i find myself not able to focus even at home, or even a litlle bit of chatter i could get distracted. The library was my #1 place that i can study. I wasnted to be able to work at home and not get distracted. That is why i chose this word. :)

3. Improvment
I chose this word, because sometimes i find that i improve on things fairly slowly, so i this year (in 2015) i feel like i can improve on things better and more efficiently. If i can do this it'll help lots in different things and activities!!!.

I am sorry that i didn't post for almost a week!. (I was supposed to post for Tuesday.)

On Tuesday during the first and second block we had a Blackout so we didn't as much. But we still had to have our proposals shown to Ms.Lees to get approved and  recieve feed back. During this time was sort of like free time.

Hi, my name is David, and here are my 3 words that I chose for next year (2015):
Persevere, Creative, and Bold.

1. Persevere
I chose the word persevere because I decided that I want to persevere, or try my best to get straight A's at school. Also, I want to work very hard when doing projects, assignments, and studying for a test.

2. Creative
I chose the word creative because this year, I want to be more creative, and also think of many good ideas in projects, and assignments in school.

3. Bold
I chose the word bold because this year, I want to be more bold, but not just in class. I want to be more firm about talking in front of other people.

What did we do?
Today, we had a substitute teacher and had time to work on our paragraph writing booklets.

Why (Learning Intention) did we do it?
We did this because some of us were behind, and they didn't finish their outlines, and paragraphs. We were asked to work on it for the rest of the block.

Reflections and Connections
Today, we worked on our paragraph writing booklets, and it could help us on our writing skills. For example, it could help you know how  to write a paragraph, and the different types of paragraphs. Also, it could help us have more time to finish the booklet early so that you wouldn't have a lot of homework.

Today for homework, remember to work on the rest of your writing booklets. Also, remember to finish reading your novel, and finish your Dialectical Journal for Monday, December 15.

3 word and sentence

Hi my name is Lucas, grade 8.

My 3 words are active, better runner, read.

         Active because I want to be a bit more active. I go outside quite a bit but sometimes I stay inside. Sometimes I can be a bit lazy.

        Better runner  because i’m not the best or fastest runner. I wanna work on distance running because i die out a little fast.

       Read more because I never read, only when I have to I dont really like reading and i can’t picture books well when i’m reading them.

       Today for the second block of humanities we did the 3 word and sentence challenges. First the teacher showed us an example, then we watched some videos of kids and teenagers that did it.

Why did we do it (learning intentions)

      We did it so we could get an example of what to do. Our teacher wanted us to set resolutions for the new year.

Reflections and connections-

       It’s important because for resolutions if we’re not good at something we set goals and we try to achieve them. We can try getting better at something we’re not the best at.

What did we do?
Today, we handed in our self-evaluations and went over our learning blogs. Also, we talked a little bit about Innovation Fair.

Why (Learning Intension) did we do it?
We went over our learning logs because we could find out what we did wrong, and how we could improve next time. Also, we discussed about Innovation Fair because many people were having trouble coming up with ideas.

Reflections and connections
We talked a little bit about Innovation Fair because it could help us learn more about it and we would know what we would have to do for next year.

Homework Reminders
For December 5th, have the 5 paragraph outlines done from the new booklet. Also, the Innovation Fair proposal is due next Tuesday, December 9th. Remember that your Dialectical Journal for LIT is due next Monday, December 8th.

What did we do?

     

      Today for the second block of humanities we got a booklet. Our teacher discussed what we need to do with it (highlighting, outlines, developing paragraph etc.) We got to work on those type of things for half of the second block.

Why did we do it (learning intention)

     Whey did we do it? because our teacher wants us to learn more about writing skills. She wants to learn more about writing for our stories we write. Also there's this thing she put in our booklet 

TOWER t-think  o-organize  w-write  e-edit  r-rewrite.

Reflections and connections-

     It's important to know this stuff because when we write stories, so we can meet expectations (length of story, punctuation/grammar) stuff like that. Why is it important? so we can write stories better, it would be useful when we write our stories and blog posts. It can help us with those types of things.

Homework reminders-

    We have 5 outlines do tomorrow. The 4 developing paragraph ones, and one other of our topic choice. And the whole booklet is due in 2 weeks.

    Tips for homework, you can watch videos or you can e-mail our teacher if your stuck on something you can ask her for help.

In Class

     Today in class we discussed with our group about the blog and decided when and who will post on the blog. Part of discussing this wiht our group was to talk to each other and actually "communicate" so that we'll get more comfortable with each other. This is useful to do, because if someone couldn't post on the blog, because there was an "unexpected" event then that person would have to talk to our group members so that they can "swap" days. Today we also had to fill our a "Teacher and/or Self Assessment" which is due on Thur. When you are doing this and you are not sure what to put for your "evidence" you can look back on the work you have done and maybe you'll find something there!.

HUM 8 Assignment

I chose this quote because it inspires me and it tells you to not give up even though you have failed or have not succeeded. I think this quote is inportant because a lot of people just quit right away after doing something if they are very bad at it. 

You shouldn't always quit just because you aren't good at something. I think you should keep trying until you get better at it. For example, you shouldn't choose to quit playing a sport. You should have to practice until you have gotten better at it.

Steven Bui Club attending

I attended the volley ball try outs a couple weeks ago and it was a disaster. Nobody was able to make it over the net. So i just stopped trying i usually would play at the best of my ability but it just wasn't
worth it. To be honest i think my elementary play day team is better then the high school team anyways i left the team also most of the good players got cut.


On Monday i attended not really a club but it was like a basketball thing. It was an open gym at the school where everyone who wants to play basketball come out and play games and drills. Its sorted out from grade 8 to 10 and 11 to 12 some of the juniors get to play with the seniors if the coaches saw if they were good enough. Anyways it was really fun it was kinda like a try out for basketball. There were a lot of good players. Not a lot of people know about the open gym so i think i should spread out the word to anyone that plays basketball cause the coach wants more players

Arts and Crafts Club

Arts and Crafts Club is a club that allows you to do art during lunch on Wedsdays and Thursdays room 125!. You can  do ANYTHING you want (but has to be related to arts or crafts) and work on it at the club!. The president in our club is named Jisoo. Also how nice is it to do art at school?. I like the idea of it too, because there will be people giving you advice which will help improve your skills!. It's also fun to bring a few friends with you to join!. The club is perfect for those art lovers!. Join NOW and i'll see you there!(maybe). :)

Free the Children

Last week, I went to a club called "Free the Children". The main purpose of the "Free the Children" club is to help other children who are in need of food, shelter, and water by volunteering or by donating to charity. "Free the Children" club is in Room 214. The club meetings are always on Wednesday and Thursday at lunch. In the club, we will go to different places to help raise money for charity. On Halloween night, on October 31, the people in the club will ask strangers in different houses for canned food items. 

The advantages in joining the club would be to help you get involved in educational experiences, and real world learning and supporting opportunities. I don't think there are any disadvantages of joining the club. The skills, interests, and connection that you may develop or need would be leadership skills and an interest in helping others. Also, you could help others in the club by participating in events and activities, or by being at club meetings.

If I were to go join the club, I would be concerned about the time, that if I could make it to all the meetings in the club. When I went to the club meeting, the "Free the Children" club gave a lot of information about what they were doing, and incoming events; so I was interested in going to the club.

Spark club is an activity kind of club. We are starting to do activities this week, like on Tuesday we are throwing a party for Ms. De Luca cause she just joined the school a little while ago. Then we are doing surprise stuff that I can't say, you'll find out more about it soon. if you join this club apparently you get to have parties, and there is only three guys in the club me and Sahil both joined and one other, and then there's like 15 girls. If any one else wants to join come to room. 111 I think on Wednesday Oct. 29.

It seems like a fun club for the first semester then if there's any new ones that come out I might give it a try. that's all they talked about.   THE END
